Dear SOE Board Members and Associate Board Members
 
The prevalence of myopia and pathological myopia is increasing substantially and could become the most common cause of visual impairment and blindness in Europe unless action is taken. There are already effective myopia control interventions. We have the opportunity to reduce the onset of myopia and slow down its progression.  Considering the importance of this situation, the Board of the European Society of Ophthalmology (SOE) decided to develop and publish the Update and Guidance on Management of Myopia. Board members of the SOE as well as invited experts and European members of the International Myopia Institute (IMI) were involved in the development of this document. The publication is online in the European Journal of Ophthalmology and “open access”. We will be grateful if you could make it known to Members of your Society, Institution or College, that they can access the full article and download the pdf version, free of charge.
